City-river collaborative is an urban revitalization program that reimagines the cities’ relationship with the rivers. An ongoing project under this program is Connecting Cairo to the Nile in Egypt. While the Nile has long been a central axis for Cairo’s cultural, ecological, and social life, decades of rapid urbanization, privatization of riverfronts, and vehicular infrastructure have created physical and symbolic disconnections between residents and the river. This initiative aims to restore public access, ecological resilience, and urban vibrancy along the Nile through a network of inclusive, walkable, and environmentally integrated waterfront spaces.
