URBANICS worked on the development of a countryside lodging facility. The participatory design process was conducted in cooperation with the local community in Senegal in which it adopted authentic building methods. The design-build process balanced the standard ecological design requirements along with the owner’s preferences. The design was inspired to (i) serve the neighbouring communities by show-casing the local crafts and sustainable building techniques to the visitors,  (ii) set the model to be easily replicated in the sense that the adjacent land owner can learn from the adopted environmentally-friendly building techniques and  (iii) introduce an original building prototype that promotes architectural practices which respects the local heritage and blends with nature.
